Program overview:

Electrical power system commissioning is the systematic process by which a piece of electrical equipment, system, or facility is tested to verify that it functions in accordance with the design intent and owner’s operational requirements

Electrical Commissioning is a very special occurrence and poses some unique challenges to electrical personnel. Inexperience and poor planning will inevitably result in prolonged delays in the startup which can lead to costly productivity losses. The importance of planning and preparation for the project, from engineering to testing, troubleshooting and commissioning and eventual start up, is the focus of this program. This program is designed to provide essential learning points to electrical engineers who wish to know and understand the role of electrical testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of electric power distribution systems.

For whom:

This program is designed for Maintenance Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Maintenance managers, Supervisors and Technical staffs working in maintenance departments. Electrical professionals who need to refresh and expand their knowledge on electrical systems will also benefit from this program.

Learning objectives:

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • commission electrical systems that meet the operational needs of their organizations;
  • carry out commissioning plan, process and procedures effectively;
  • effectively plan and carry out various required inspections;
  • carry out on load and offloads tests;
  • carry out phasing tests;
  • commission a coordinated electrical system that balance protection with reliability and meet the recent code requirements and standards for critical facilities;
  • put in place effective safety mechanisms during testing; and
  • carry out energization and commissioning documentations.
